You may have seen in the news 2G and 3G mobile networks are gradually being switched off over the next few years. Initially, mobile providers are switching off the 3G network in order that they can develop more advanced 4G and 5G networks which provides customers with better, faster and more reliable services. Your alarm panel uses 2G technology to connect to the mobile network in order that your panel can send SMS, make voice calls and / or connect to the RISCO Cloud service. At this time there is no definitive timescale for when 2G networks will close down.
During this period of change, operators that provide international mobile services (and who use UK networks) are reviewing their network coverage. In the case of the operator of the alarm|SIM CARD in your panel, they have taken the decision to cease operating UK services on 31st October 2025 and after this date your sim will no longer work.
To ensure continuity of access to a mobile network we need to send you a new sim card.
